#TT's... but this time not on Twitter

Following the trending topics is something everyone enjoys checking out on twitter. But what about the trending things that fashionistas enjoy? I have been following a few new trends in the fashion world.. and I am excited to see how everyone feels about them.

First, the bubble down coat. I have seen many of these coats over the past few weeks as temperatures in many states are on a rapid decline. With the colder weather approching, it only makes sense to purchase a heavier jacket. I am not convinced, however, that the choice must be a Michelin tire "cream puff" man looking jacket. These coats are not suitable for all body types. The bigger you are, the bigger they make you look. For women who are a little more busty up top, or a little larger on the bottom region, heavier coats are offered that won't make you look like a blimp character from the Macy's Parade.

My favorite option is this great Leather coat from UGG Austraila. The Women's Adin coat retails for $795 and is part of a newer apparel line that UGG has delivered that certainly excites me! This coat has a nice long length, belted waist, and also a somewhat wrinkled look to it that can help cover or hide those areas you may want to conceal. Below is a link for anyone that is interested. Please let me know what you think!

Message Appel- What works, What doesn't?

MESSAGE APPEAL- HUMOR, FEAR, GUILT AND SEX APPEAL

One of my favorite ads on T.V right now is the V8 commercial where the mom is eating a fry and talking to her baby. All of a sudden she gets booped upside the head and you hear "Coulda had a V8!" This is the newest in a run of V8 ads indicating "duh!" drink V8 and get all the nutrients you need. I think it is hilarious when the men and women get booped in the forhead. This commercial really does send the message and ads humor along with it.

Another advertisement that I believe does a great job of having message appeal is the Victoria's Secret Secret Embrace campaign. It definitely has sex appeal in the ad. The commercial starts out with all different types of women in their bras and its marketing the new Secret Embrace bra. I believe the ad works because not only is Victoria's Secret a well-known brand for intimate apparel, but it gives off the effect that women could look sexy in that bra and still be comfordable. Men would buy this product because the ad is appealing to their natural sex drive, but they can also see how their wives or girlfriends could look good in this product too.

One ad that I don't believe appealed to one of the messages very well was for Pur water filters. The ad I saw had a bottle of water, without a label, sitting in the middle of a while screen. The water is talking to the camera, the audience, asking to be let free. The water bottle tells us that water like him should be allowed to run through faucettes and be free. I think the ad was supposed to be using humor in the message to just use the water you have and purify it, but it came across to me as kinda stupid. I didn't actually get the commercial at first, so I rewinded the dvr and watched it again. I think Pur could have done alot better if they wanted to appeal to humor in their ad.

The second advertisement that I don't think appeals very well to any certain area is the Army commercials. I can understand why some people may say it appeals to guilt because there are many Americans who are over in Iraq fighting for our country, and we over here in the states, aren't doing anything to support our troops or our country. Not everyone would feel guilty in this way though. Some could reply that they pay taxes, or some could say that they would never have to go into the Army or any branch of the military so therefore it isn't important to them or doesn't affect them in their daily lives. I feel like if thearmed services wanted to appeal to an audience who may feel guilty for not somehow getting involved, they could have used the emotional appeal to evoke the guilty feelings.

Coors Light and NFL Football Commercials

Here is a link to you tube so you can check out my fav commercial

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6E5gg7o7Of4

Creative Brief

Client Info: Coors Light Beer

Background/Overview: Coors Light is an light, fewer calorie beer, made by Coors Brewing Co based out of Golden Colorado. Coors Light began being brewed in 1978 and is well-known for being an official sponsor of the National Football League. In 2007, Coors Light unveiled a new Thermochromatic bottles that turn blue when the beer is cold enough to drink and change as the beer becomes warmer. Coors is one of the top 3 selling brands of beer in the US.

Objective/Purpose: To attract as many new or exsisting customers to the product with the upgrades of the new can, but still the same great tasting beer you would expect from a known brand such as Coors.

Target Audience: Coors Lights true target audience we be more towards men, over the age of 21 of course, and that loves outdoors and NFL Football. Coors light is a beer that is less in calories than some other beers on the market, so in some ways it is targeted to consumers that may want to watch their weight or are health conscious.

Most Important Thing to Say: The most important part of this ad was to make certain all potential consumers knew the bottle has a new can that can visually show you when the beer becomes warm. As most beer drinkers are aware, hot beer isn't very good.

Supporting Rational Reasons: Coors light is still one of the less costly beers on the market. Its important to the consumer to know that with the new additions to the can, Coors Light is not going to affect their other purchases based on price.

Supporting Emotional Reasons: Men love their football, and while trying to drawl them in with this commerical, it was important to involve one of the main reasons they're drinking beer. Its Sunday, NFL game day, and they're relaxing with a Coors Light.

Mandatory Elements, Helpful info and insights: Its important to understand the customers priorities when determining which beer to drink. Using buying patterns associated with the views of displays inside grocery stores and gas stations along with advertising campaigns.

Schedule: Advertising Campaign should be scheduled to air on tv during football games. They should be shown on Basic networks as well as Specialty networks such as MTV or ESPN. Ads will air more frequent during the beginning of the season and taper off throughout. Football season starts late Sept and runs through early Feb.

Favorite Ad

Well, I must say, out of all the billboard ads I've seen in Greensboro during my 25 yrs of life... I think my favorite one has to be the HUGE Diamond Billboard. It used to be over off Holden Rd like coming towards campus, right above some white building. I'm not even sure if its still there. The diamond was SO BIG it took up almost the whole billboard and even went off of it. At the bottom it just had the name of the jeweler's. I hardly ever drive that way since I live in HP but I grew up in NC and as soon I was old enough to understand and appreciate the value of a good size ring I'd tell my mom "that's what I want when I get married." My mom would always laugh and say, "OH, Kris, One day!" The funny thing about that billboard is that I don't remember the name of the Jewelry store under it. I thought for sure it was Carlyle in Friendly, but I'm not sure. And isn't that the point of putting up billboards? Mass amounts of people will view your billboard everyday and remind you that you need their product?

Flat Earth Chips Positioning

Flat Earth Chips has positioned themselves in the snack food market as "Impossibly Good." The meaning behind that is most people don't believe that a chip can be good and good for you. With the many different flavor options they offer, consumers can find their favorite fruit, veggie or cheese flavor and have a snack that tastes good and is good for their body. I feel like Flat Earth has positioned themselves as a chip that is good for you like other brands such as Kettle Chips, but Flat Earth Chips has a slogan that may allow them to stand out from the competition. For consumers who are health conscious, it gives them more choices than plain(salted) or veggie.

I think the commercial is very cute. The little pig may put some type of feeling behind the commercial. The fact that the commercial depicts a middle aged woman being "waistline" or health conscious may affect other women's views and get them behind the Flat Earth Chips as well. The Brand name of the company also follows along with their positioning. Impossible is what they go by, and the Earth is definitely not flat.

Top Ten Ad Agencies- Who's the BEST?

Our book had many of the top ad agencies worldwide, and here are just the top 10.

1) J Walter Thompson
2)Leo Burnett Worldwide
3)McCann Erickson Worldwide
4)BBDO Worldwide
5)Grey Worldwide
6)DDB Worldwide
7)Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide
8)Foote, Cone & Belding Worldwide
9)Y & R Advertising
10)Publics Worldwide

While looking up these top ten ad agencies I couldn't help but mention one of them on here. DDB Worldwide has come up with many ad campaigns for McDonald's including one that started with a traveling little red balloon and ended up with McDonald's favorite french fries. Seems there aren't too many people who can resist the taste of McDonald's fries and I know when I see the commercials I can't help but to want to run out and pick some up.

I also looked up Ogilvy and Mather and found a really interesting and eye catching print ad for DOVE deodorant. It was a beautiful picture of a red delicious apple, and on the top were these ugly brown thorns. The underline print wanted you to buy the product in order to stop ugly bumpy irritation. I as a woman would think this ad would stand out to me. I am always looking for products that don't irritate my sensitive skin and I know other women do the same thing.

Young and Rubicam, Y and R for short, have come up with many advertising campaigns for tv for Bacardi Rum. My favorite Bacardi commercial would have to be the one about how to make a Mojito, but I saw another interesting one on the Y and R site. It looked very refreshing and the Bacardi and drink were splashing together and gave me a very cooking sensation. This commercial made me feel like after drinking this drink I would be re-hydrated.
